SAN DIEGO, CA – A 67-year-old homeless man died last Friday after a trolley struck him in his motorized wheelchair in Barrio Logan, reports The San Diego Union-Tribune.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Schley Street and Harbor Drive, which is southeast of CA-75 and southwest of I-5.
Police say that an eastbound MTS trolley struck the victim as he was travelling south in his motorized wheelchair.
The man died at the scene of the collision. Authorities identified him as Roy Mattingly.
No other injuries have been reported at this time. A full investigation is underway.
