News: No injuries when driver hits gas station near airport

SAN DIEGO, CA – A San Diego driver collided with a gas station pump near the airport after experiencing a medical emergency Sunday, reports Fox 5 San Diego.

The incident happened before 5:30 a.m. at a Shell station in the area of Laurel Street and Pacific Highway. which is in the Harborview area, just southeast of San Diego International Airport.

The investigation indicates that the driver had a medical emergency, which caused him to lose control of his Ford sedan and crash into a gas pump at the station. The collision caused the pump to ignite, but employees at the Shell were able to contain it quickly.

Medics transported the driver of the Ford to the hospital. At this time, it appears that he did not sustain injuries as a result of the crash but needed treatment related to his medical emergency.

No other injuries have been reported so far in connection to the accident. Our team will circle back if we learn more.
